Crafted by Vancouver icon Michael Dunn, this is a beautiful Weissenborn lap steel with a twist. Inspired by Vancouver-based builder Hugo Willner’s guitar bracing system, this style of instrument is not seen very often. This patented bracing system uses wires to counteract the tension on the soundboard.
Michael Dunn saw it, and absolutely had to buiild it…and he did!
The wires are tuned to G with a screwdriver under a small panel on the end of the guitar and when tuned properly they resonate with any G note played on the guitar. Unusual? Maybe. Effective? Yes!
